The beeping sound of an alarm clock, signifying its time to wake up. Its Monday morning. Oh No! another Monday??? You snooze the alarm clock only for it beep again in five minutes!
The above typifies the average Monday morning for the working class. No drive, no motivation. The get-up-and-go motivation to rise and face a new working week is just not there. Not a few face this Monday morning dilemma, hence Mondays are usually considered as the worst days of the week.

This is especially true for working-class employees who are
working or a salary. Many do not find joy and fulfilment in the work they do.
And are only in it for the paycheck. The thought of facing the rigours of a
new working week – getting up very early, spend hours commuting to their
workplace to meet a work as well as a boss who they do not like – sends cold shivers
down their spines. Yet in the absence of a better alternative, they are forced to stick to the same routine week in, week out.
Could there be a way out? A change of paradigm? A boost of
motivation and excitement? Could Mondays possibly become the most anticipated
day of the week? A day to look forward to with gusto and anticipation?

imagination
/ɪˌmadʒɪˈneɪʃ(ə)n/
noun
"the faculty or action of forming new ideas, or images or concepts of external objects not present to the senses."
"the ability of the mind to be creative or resourceful."
"the part of the mind that imagines things"
Your imagination is your image-nation, a powerful part of your subconscious mind which controls your perception of yourself as well as the environment around you. It is a gift which the
Creator has graciously given to every human being.
The Manual for life says,
“For as he thinks within himself, so he is."
A story is told of a group of people in ancient times who
wanted to make a name for themselves; write their names in the sands of time. They
wanted to do something that had never been done in their time. So they decided
to embark on a project – to build a city which would house the world’s tallest building which would
reach into the heavens. Again the Manual for Life recorded it as follows for posterity :
"All people on the earth had one language and the same words. When they travelled east, they found a valley in the land of Shinar and settled there. They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them hard.” They used bricks for stones and asphalt for mortar. They said, “Come, let’s build for ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the sky, and let’s make a name for ourselves so that we won’t be dispersed over all the earth.”
Then the Lord came down to see the city and the tower that the humans built. And the Lord said, “There is now one people and they all have one language. This is what they have begun to do, and now all that they plan to do will be possible for them.” (bold italicised emphasis mine)
There are a lot of powerful takeaways one can glean from this story that can change Monday morning paradigms.
1) First of all, these people were not satisfied with their current situation. They were migrants, looking for a place to settle down They found a valley - an empty space of barren land and decided to settle there. They had a vision of where they wanted to live in. Instead of complaining about where they found themselves, they decided to do something about.
Quit complaining about your present situation. Start dreaming about the future you desire. Use your imagination to start creating mental pictures of your desired future. Life is a journey Your present circumstances is just a bend. It is definitely not your end.
2) Notice that these set of people were very ambitious. They wanted to make a name for themselves. They wanted to live extra-ordinary lives that would make a mark, leave footprints in the sands of time. They didn't want to live normal lives, they were hungry for more.
Are you ambitious? How big are your dreams and goals? Are you content in living an ordinary life? The enormity of your vision and dreams should be strong enough to drive you out of bed every morning to pursue them.
3) They said to themselves. This statement right here is perhaps your greatest motivating factor - they spoke to themselves.
Nobody can live your dreams for you. No one can make it happen except you. You are fully responsible for ensuring that your dreams come to fruition.

Its time to start actualizing your dreams |
To achieve this, you need to speak to yourself about the future you envisage. Use the power of your imagination as well as your tongue to speak into existence the future that you see.
Words are extremely powerful Once a word is spoken, a creative force is set into motion that ensures that it comes to pass.
"What you say can preserve life or destroy it; so you must accept the consequences of your words.
"From the words of his mouth, a man will enjoy good things."
Barack Obama believed that a black person could occupy the most exalted seat of President of the United States of America. He not only believed and spoke it, but he also influenced millions around the world to buy into his dream by coining those three prolific words, YES WE CAN!
The rest they say is history. He is today the only person of black descent to have borne the prestigious title - President of the United States. And that's because he dared to believe in and vocalise his dreams.
4) Finally, after dreaming big, desiring to make an impact and prepping themselves by talking to themselves, THEY ACTUALLY GOT TO WORK ON THEIR DREAMS
This is where most people drop off. When the vision has been cast firmly in my mind, stop daydreaming, GET TO WORK. If you do not get to work n your dreams, it will remain just that -a dream. So stop the procrastination and get to work. Every day, do something that would take you closer to it Improve yourself. Learn a new skill. Take an online course. Start that project.
Notice that the people in our reference story didn't have the best of materials. They didn't have marble or gold or diamonds. However, they used what was readily available. They used bricks for stones and asphalt for mortar.
They didn't have to procrastinate and wait until the conditions were perfect. The truth is that there is no perfect time or perfect circumstance. Start from where you are with what you currently have.
The zenith of this story was when the Almighty Himself noticed their work and said ;
"...and now all that they plan to do will be possible for them.”
What a remark! What pronouncement!!!
There is no impossibility for a man with a Vision - a man who has and knows the road map to his destination. Even nature will cooperate with you in achieving your dreams and getting to your destination.

ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your kind words.
DeleteFaith without work is dead. It's good to have vision, it's good to be motivated to dream dreams and it's also good to talk to yourself to be motivated. The fact still remains that the best dreams, the best bison and the best motivation is meaningless if there is no implementation. The will to do is the most important.
ReplyDeleteA lot of us have loads and loads of dreams and visions but these dreams die natural death because the zeal to implement is lacking. Like Nike, 'Just do it'.
